ABOUT THE CONVENTION

In 1963, eastern MA (Area 30) and western MA (Area 31) decided to foster AA unity, service, and recovery across Massachusetts by hosting a state-wide convention.

The two areas formed a joint committee to select a site, develop a program and host the first Mass State Convention (MSC), with Al Anon participation, and the MSC was born.

Today, the convention happens in roughly the same way. This year's 61st state convention is November 14-16 at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel in Marlborough.

Convention Planning Committee

Each year, members from Areas 30 and 31 form a joint planning committee to:

  • Publish information about the convention.
  • Arrange for on-site helpers & greeters.
  • Conduct outreach to AA groups, Al-Anon.
  • Engage other AA groups and committees.
  • Collaborate on issues, ideas and finances.
  • Plan, prepare for, and host the convention.
